Selection for the fourth group of Chinese reserve astronauts has started in China

Selection for the fourth group of Chinese reserve astronauts has begun, the China Manned Space Program Office said.

A total of 12 to 14 reserve astronauts will be selected, including seven to eight astronaut-pilots and five to six flight engineers and payload specialists. Astronaut-pilots are selected from current land, naval and air force pilots; flight engineers are selected from research and engineering personnel involved in aerospace and related fields; and payload specialists are selected from scientists involved in space science and related applied research.

The selection of reserve astronauts, organized and conducted by the China Manned Space Program Office, is expected to be completed in about a year and a half. For the first time, payload specialists will be selected in the special administrative areas of Xiangang and Aomen.
