New asteroid approaching Earth discovered

Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin of the Institute of Applied Mathematics, Russian Academy of Sciences has discovered a new asteroid approaching Earth.

As specified, the diameter of the object called 2022 VG2 is approximately 13 to 31 meters. It was possible to identify it thanks to the Russian telescope ORI-40, which is located in the Mongolian observatory Hureltogot. So far, the exact mass and shape of the space body could not be determined.

Recognize the asteroid was obtained at a speed of about 50 arc seconds per minute, which makes it the object recorded at the fastest speed: the previous ones were moving at a speed of 4-5 arc seconds per minute. After the publication of the data obtained at the service NEOCP 2022 VG2 was confirmed by dozens of observatories from Russia, the U.S. and European countries.

The asteroid was classified as approaching the Earth of the Apollo family, i.e. crossing the orbit of our planet.
