Iran tested the Saman inter-orbital tugboat

The Iranian Space Agency in cooperation with the Aerospace Industries Organization of the country’s Defense Ministry conducted a test launch of an inter-orbital tug Saman. This was reported by IRNA agency.

The test system was successfully launched and tested. “Saman” will make it possible to move spacecraft from one orbit to another. It is noted that the performance of tug subsystems was tested in conditions close to space. The system also carried a suborbital space probe.

The country’s Information and Communications Technology Ministry said the technology involved in the development of the tug, available only to a small number of countries.

In September it became known that Iran is working on the creation of satellite “Ayat”, which will be able to predict earthquakes, floods and landslides.

In August, a Soyuz-2.1b rocket with a Hayyam remote sensing satellite built for Iran was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
